What Is an All-Inclusive Self-Consumption Solar Kit?

It’s a complete photovoltaic system that comes fully configured: the panels generate power, the inverter converts it to 230 V for the house, the battery stores the excess for nighttime use, and when you have several days in a row without sunlight, the backup generator starts up automatically to recharge the battery and shuts off when it’s done. You don’t buy individual parts and hope they’ll work together—you buy a system that’s already designed to work as a whole.

The Plans Genergy They work with a off-grid solar inverter: The house draws power first from the sun, then from the battery, and finally from the grid or the generator, which are connected to the inverter's AC input. 1 · Check your bill. The kWh for the month divided by 30 is your daily consumption. If you don’t have a bill (new home or off-grid), add up the appliances: refrigerator 1–1.5 kWh, washing machine 1 per load, induction cooktop 1–2, heat pump 8–15 in winter.
2 · Choose based on winter usage:If you live there year-round, choose a plan whose winter generation covers your daily needs. If it’s a summer vacation home, the annual average is sufficient, so a smaller plan will do.
3 · Battery = Your Night: The battery must store the energy you use from sunset to sunrise. 10 kWh is enough for a comfortable night in a primary residence without a heat pump.
4 · Generator = your cloud cover. Witha backup generator, you can size the battery to last one night, not three days of rain. It's cheaper than having twice as many batteries and isn't dependent on the weather.

Backup A, B, or C: Which generator is used for each one?

The generator connects to the inverter's AC input and its start switch. When the battery level drops below the level you set, the inverter starts the generator; when the battery level recovers, it stops the generator. You choose the generator based on noise level, power consumption, and power output.

Frequently Asked Questions About Self-Consumption Solar Kits

How many solar panels can I install without a permit?

In an off-grid installation like these kits, there’s no limit on the number of panels since you’re not feeding power into the grid, but “without a permit” isn’t an option: the electrical installation must be performed by a licensed electrician and registered with the relevant local authority in your region (a technical report is required for systems up to 10 kW; a project plan is required for systems above that). What you save compared to a grid-connected system is the process of applying for access and connection with the utility company and the surplus power contract. If you also make changes to the roof, the city may require prior notification or a building permit.

What are the subsidies for self-consumption in 2026?

They depend on the autonomous community and change every year: the national calls for proposals for self-consumption and storage using European funds have already closed, and some autonomous communities and municipalities maintain their own programs or offer property tax (IBI) and construction tax (ICIO) rebates. For an off-grid installation, check the current call for proposals in your autonomous community before purchasing; we’ll provide you with the technical documentation for the kit that is typically required.

What happens if I install solar panels on my house without a permit?

An unregistered electrical installation may result in a fine, a requirement to bring it up to code or remove it, and problems with your home insurance if an electrical incident occurs. For a single-family home, bringing the installation up to code is simple and inexpensive compared to the cost of the kit: installer’s certificate, technical report, and registration. Do it right from the start.

What kind of solar kit do I need for a house?

Add up your daily consumption in kWh. Up to 10 kWh/day and weekend use: Rigel; 12 to 20 kWh/day year-round: Sirius; 20 to 30: Vega; 30 to 45 or with a heat pump: Sigma or Pegasus. What exactly does the kit include?

IFR solar inverter, LFP battery or batteries (5120 Wh), 660-W panels, solar array protection box, battery wiring with quick-connect terminals, base with wheels, and—for Backup plans—the generator with its charger and jumper cable. It does not include the wiring between the panels, the box, and the inverter, nor the roof mounting structures, because their length and cross-section depend on each home.

Can I use it in a house that already has a network?

Yes. The grid connects to the inverter’s AC input and acts as a backup: the house draws power first from solar and the battery, and only draws from the grid when those sources are insufficient. No power is fed back into the grid, so you don’t need to change your contract or request compensation. During a power outage, you’ll continue to have uninterrupted power.

Do I need a backup generator?

Without the grid, yes: that’s what keeps you going during those three- or four-day stretches of cloudy winter weather, which no reasonable battery can handle. With the grid, no; the grid takes care of that. You can start without a generator and add a solar backup later: the inverter already has a startup output.

How much does a self-consumption solar kit with a battery cost?

The price of each plan is listed on its product page and ranges from the Rigel, with 4 panels and 5 kWh, to the Pegasus Backup, with 14 panels, 20 kWh, and a diesel generator. Always compare what’s included: in most kits on the market, the battery, control panel, and generator are sold separately, which drives up the final price.

How long does it take to pay off?

It depends on what you're replacing. If it saves you from having to run a power line to your lot, it usually pays for itself on the first day: a rural service connection often costs more than the kit. If it reduces your bill, divide the price by what you pay each year. We don't publish general payback periods because every home is different.

Can I expand the kit later?

Yes. The IFR inverter supports more LFP 5120Wh batteries than are included in the kit: they can be stacked and connected. You can also add panels up to the inverter’s maximum capacity and a generator to any plan that doesn’t include a generator. The one thing that doesn’t change is the inverter: if you expect to expand significantly, start with the Sigma or Pegasus (8,000 W).

How does the generator start on its own?

The inverter has a start contact that closes when the battery level drops below the percentage you set (for example, 20%). The SOL or ATS generator receives this signal, starts up, recharges the batteries via the AC input, and, once the shutdown level is reached, the inverter shuts it down. All without anyone having to leave the house.

Who installs it?

A licensed electrician: installs the panels, runs the wiring to the electrical panel, connects the inverter and batteries—which come pre-equipped with quick-connect fittings—and issues the certificate to register the installation.
