What Is a Portable Electric Generator—and What Isn't?
A portable generator is one you can lift and put in the car without help: it weighs less than 40 kilos, has one or two handles, and features a small gasoline engine with inverter technology, which provides clean power for electronics and runs at lower RPMs when you’re not using much power. It’s the generator for camping, for the van, for the country cottage, and for construction sites where you have to carry it up stairs.
There are two things called "portable" that aren't this. Generators with wheels for home use (4,500 to 7,000 W and about 90 kg) can be moved around the yard, but they can't be lifted: those are the Cube. And battery-powered energy stations—which Google calls “portable solar generators”—don’t have an engine: they’re something else entirely and have their own page. Here, we’re talking about engine-powered generators that you load manually.
- 12–40 kgcan be lifted and fit in the trunk
- 1,100–4,600 W froma refrigerator to a radial fan
- 52–74 dBaat 7 m: the quietest, the Palma
- 5–7 hours ofbattery life on a half charge
- Clean power inverterand ECO mode on all models
Where are you going to take it?
When choosing a laptop, there are three key factors to consider: its weight, its sound quality, and its battery life. Find the one that's right for you.
Refrigerator, light, and cell phone charging
The smallest model in the lineup is all you need: the Ibiza 1100, weighing 12.1 kg, with USB and 12 V outputs, manual start, and a runtime of 5 hours on 3 liters. You can carry it with one hand.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 W rated power and, above all, one that doesn't disturb the neighbor next door. The Palma 1700 (52–58 dB, 19 kg) is the quietest; the Lanzarote RC 2000 includes a remote control with a 50-meter range so you can start it from inside.

Menorca RC 2900: 2,600 W rated power for small fans, 21.7 kg, and remote control. The limit of what you can still load onto the luggage rack without a second thought.

Durability matters more here than quiet operation: an open-frame inverter, lighter per watt. Choose between the Rodas 3800 (34.5 kg) or the Feroe 4600 (39.5 kg), both with a 10-liter capacity for the day.

Madeira 4000: enclosed (57–71 dB), 35 kg, with wheels for moving it around the property, 7 hours of runtime on 7.8 liters. If you plan to use it throughout the entire house and won't be moving it around, check out the Cube.

A Palma or a Menorca is enough to power a refrigerator, router, and lights during a power outage; if you want it to start up automatically when the power goes out, that’s no longer a laptop—it’s an automatic-start generator. And always outside the house, never in a closed garage.

Gas-Powered Laptop or Battery-Powered Station: Which One Is Right for You?
That's the question on the mind of anyone searching for "portable generator" today: the search results include both engines and batteries. Genergy It manufactures both, so the comparison is fair.
| If you need… | Gas-Powered Laptop (this page) | Battery-powered power station |
|---|---|---|
| Use it indoors (store, van, home) | Never: emits gases | Yes, no smoke and no noise |
| Silence of the Night | 52–74 dB depending on the model, always somewhat | Complete silence |
| Power and Tools | Up to 4,600 W and motor starts | Up to 3,600 W continuous, depending on the model |
| Many hours in a row | You reply and carry on | As long as the battery lasts; then recharge it |
| Charging with solar panels | No | Yes, with built-in MPPT |
| Maintenance | Oil, spark plug, filter | None |

Many customers end up with both: the solar-powered station for nighttime use and the electronic one—the gasoline-powered laptop—to power the tools and recharge the solar-powered station when there's no sun.
Why Choose a Genergy Laptop?
Inverter on Channel 7
Clean power for laptops, chargers, and electronics, plus an ECO mode that reduces engine speed when the load is low: less noise and less gas.
Weight, on the data sheet
Here, each model lists its weight, its sound quality, and its battery life. These are the factors that determine a laptop's value—and the ones almost no store tells you about before you buy.
50-meter range on the RC models
In Lanzarote and Menorca, you start and stop the engine from inside the RV or the cabin. You don't have to go out into the rain.
Open or enclosed—the choice is yours
Enclosed (Silent) if there will be people nearby; open (Open) if weight per watt and durability on-site are the priorities.
USB and 12 V Outputs
The Ibiza charges a cell phone or a 12-volt battery directly, without a transformer.
